One thing I don’t miss about the United States of America, is the way they operate their public libraries. There are so many upscale, comfy libraries to visit in many cities, but they have been turned into Homeless Hotels. Many people who are unhoused, and choose to live that way, have taken over the libraries. They bring their animals, pets, or comfort animal in the library, and don’t have them on the leash. You don’t know if the animals will bite you or not, not to mention, many of the animals aren’t kept clean, carry fleas and bedbugs. These mites get into the carpeting and nice furniture, which makes it unsafe for you to sit in.
Many of the unhoused individuals, have a lack for respecting other peoples’ boundaries. They don’t care if they make you feel uncomfortable, or that their huge dogs are threatening. They don’t care about smelling up the public restrooms at the library, by taking baths in the sinks. Most unhoused people, have income. They have SSI, they have Veteran’s benefits, receiving at least $2800.00 a month or more, but they don’t want to pay rent. They would rather use their income on “other” things.
I enjoy reading, and I felt I couldn’t enjoy the libraries because of the behavior of the unhoused individuals. If the libraries are going to allow these people to do whatever they want to do, then just use the libraries as Homeless Hotels, put up cots for them to sleep there, day and night, and feed them. Just warn the general public that the library is being used for that purpose so people who don’t feel comfortable with this, can stay away.
I don’t fear insulting anyone, as no-one reads these blogs anyway. This is just a journal for me, a way for me to vent my frustrations with American Society.
